November 2023 Honoree
Kathy Buttolph, RN
Thank you so much to Kathy Buttolph and all the nurses, doctors, respiratory, speech & occupational therapists who cared for my grandson, L, until he was discharged home several weeks later. We were truly blown away by the level of care the whole family received. As a NICU and L & D RN myself, I was so impressed with the family-centered care model you have in your Birth Center. I thought I was lucky to work in a gold-standard, award-winning facility, but you raised the bar on defining the gold standards. We want to especially recognize Kathy as the care she provided was so extra. She gently taught my son and his wife how to care for a 34-week baby, setting them on a path to success once they got home. She demonstrated a great understanding of the developmental needs of a preemie and recreated a womb-like environment as much as possible. L is a gentle, sweet three-month-old baby now, and I'm sure the nurturing cocoon Kathy created for him in those first few critical weeks helped his neurological development significantly. We can't say thank you enough. I hope you will recognize Kathy with the DAISY Award, as the care she provides meets every criterion for this award. And thank you for creating an environment where nurses like Kathy can thrive and provide great care to families.
Thank you, Kathy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
