I went into labor three weeks early because of my medicine. My baby had a high chance of having breathing trouble when born, and because of this, I was firm on having a breathing treatment team ready and on hand. Kathy made this happen and so much more. She was by my side for the epidural and to talk to until my husband arrived. The meds worked so well I felt nothing until I was already pushing. Kathy called for my doctor, and she got there just in time to catch my baby girl. My delivery took no time at all. When my baby was born, I held her for a second then they took her, she was in fact having trouble breathing plus she was having seizures. I didn't get my hour with my baby, but Kathy stayed with me through it all. She truly was my Heaven-sent angel to be with me during this time, and because of her I barely had a breakdown. I was very hopeful with her by my side reminding me that we already knew that this was a possibility being three weeks early and she got the intervention that she needed to thrive. And after three weeks in the NICU, she came home, and six weeks later you can't even tell she had these problems. Kathy in labor and delivery is deserving of this DAISY Award. My words can't even explain how I feel and thank God for her having been with me. I was very hopeful because of her.
