Kathy cared for my uncle and not only did she provide compassionate care to him, but she also made frequent stops to his home to meet family or medical suppliers. Often these visits were on her own time. She made our family feel at ease, explained that the dying process was individual and that it was her role to make sure my uncle was comfortable. This task required multiple phone calls to the doctors and pharmacy suppliers. When my uncle passed, it was in the evening hours. I know she had been working all day seeing other patients, but when she arrived at his home she prayed with us, provided post mortem care and was a great comfort to our family. On one particular difficult day, she was at my uncle’s home 5 times!
