To say Kathy is passionate is an understatement. She is very active in the research, development and writing of policy and guidelines for life flight. The Life Flight Blood Project is no small example. Over 2 years in the development, she spends countless hours researching, writing, collaborating, attending meetings and making phone calls to prepare Life Flight for one of our biggest projects. Today, Life Flight is the only program in Iowa and one of only a handful of programs in the nation to carry blood products on every flight. Life Flight now stocks 2 units O negative PRBC's and 2 units thawed AB plasma. She knew this was an important addition not just to our program, but to the care of every patient transported by Life Flight from a hospital or scene. She strongly believes that Life Flight, a critical care transport program, should offer the same services to our patients that our hospital can. Whether it is a ventilator, a medication or treatment guideline such as sepsis, therapeutic hypothermia or blood administration, she fights for our patients.

Kathy exceeds the expectations for compassion and excellence relative to patient care. She is instrumental to our aggressive patient care guidelines through research and development and can be credited for exceptional care that our patients receive.
