I had surgery at Avera Specialty Hospital. I was not looking forward to the surgery because I had a previous surgery 1 1/2 years ago. On the day of surgery, I was nervous and concerned about how much pain I might have and how I would care for myself after surgery. From the moment I arrived, Kathy greeted me and made me feel welcomed. With her calm voice and an appropriate amount of humor, as I like to joke, I began to relax. It did not take long for me to have full trust in her. She checked on me frequently and kept me informed on every step of the journey to surgery. Kathy is a wonderful, kind, and caring person and nurse. I know she loves nursing and caring for patients and it shows.
