My son came into the hospital with severe pneumonia in both of his lungs. He had to have a chest tube placed and removed 3 liters of fluid. He was in an extreme amount of pain. Kathy watched over him as if he were her own child. We were lucky enough to have her as his nurse two days in a row. His fluid got so bad that they scheduled him for a very invasive surgery two days after when he arrived. Kathy, with our blessing, asked to pray over our son. She did this several times. I was very upset and scared, and she comforted me as a family member would have. She is one of the most caring and skilled nurses we have ever had, and we have been in and out of quite a few hospitals. Kathy made sure our son was in as little pain as possible. She made sure he was turned every 2 hours due to him being disabled and unable to move much on his own. She should be recognized for her outstanding care, compassion, and skills. Everyone should be as lucky as us to have Kathy as their nurse.
