I had the pleasure to do rounds on a patient on IP-BHS who wanted to make sure a staff member was appropriately recognized. The patient was non-verbal for the majority of the stay on BHS, proving some difficulty with staff as a primary portion of their duties are verbal interaction with patients. When the patient chose to speak, she truly couldn't say enough about the care she received from Kathy Perea. The patient reported to me while rounding with her that Kathy is kind, compassionate, caring, and really "the nicest person ever." "She checked on me frequently and oftentimes offered up different things she thought I needed." Again the patient reiterated that Kathy was kind and loving - "constantly bringing me ice water, shakes and snacks." Every day the patient was here and Kathy was the nurse the patient reported that she constantly did "more than average - going above and beyond on a consistent basis."

Kathy's position as a nurse is more than "just a nurse". She is a patient advocate, she is knowledgeable and as the patient stated "caring and kind." She role models all of the TRUECARE behavior standards!
