Kathy Smith is the example of professional nursing on Inpatient Psychiatry. She has demonstrated excellent Charge RN leadership and role modeling for our many new 7N core staff. Kathy always likes to share her skills, and always helps to educate her co-workers. She is known for consistently giving sound advice to coworkers, patients, and families. She has been noted by all to have a fantastic sense of humor…when you hear her laugh with her patients, it makes you smile.
Kathy embodies high Service Culture Guidelines and is a safety "rock" during codes. She is also a calming influence on patients and is amazing at de-escalating situations with compassion and the right amount of laughter.
Kathy adapts to change well, and you can always count on her. She is an extremely hard worker, dedicated and humble, with a sense of integrity that is always evident. Her peers on evening shift celebrate and are grateful for her service as a strong RN, and are always happy to work with her on 7N.
