Kathy made sure that R.V. felt like she was Kathy's priority. Besides her constant vigilance, Kathy was very attentive to R.V.'s care. Kathy took the time to feed R.V. her lunch to ensure she ate well, at a time when R.V. was not well enough to feed herself. Kathy spoon fed her and praised her and spoke with her - not as another patient but rather as if she was a member of her family.
Kathy also brought the patient products for personal hygiene and took the time to brush through her hair and made her feel like a person again so that when the family visited her, R.V. looked and felt better about herself even under the worst of situations. Kathy Vargas is a true asset to your team and extremely valued by our family. Kathy was not just a nurse, she was a Godsend, and our family would like to thank her for her loving and tender touch, and extraordinary attention with a cancer patient in denial of her recent diagnosis.
R.V. is an otherwise healthy person and this diagnosis has broken her spirits. Kathy has helped her feel like she is in a hotel and not a hospital, and that is worth more to us than anyone will ever know. In the wake of a horrible situation, Kathy has been fantastic and deserves to be recognized for her extraordinary efforts.
Often times people complain and criticize others, and write letters about terrible treatment, but few take the time to write about how someone truly loves their job and exemplifies the meaning of compassionate care nurse. Thank you, Kathy, from the bottom of our hearts. All of our love, the family of R.V.
