My husband was having surgery (ptosis repair). Right before he went to the OR, Kathy asked me if I had eaten and I had not. She kindly gave me a volunteer voucher for $5.00 at the cafe. If not for that voucher I would not have eaten all day. Once my husband went back, I went down, got a little something to eat and brought it back to the room. I slept in a chair most of the time I was in the room. Later, a nurse came in and said the recovery room wanted to speak to me. That is when I found out my husband had a reaction to something and was headed for a CT scan. My husband's tongue had swollen and he was unintelligible and having difficulty breathing. I was told he would be on IV for several hours. I went home to take care of our pets then returned. I felt like I was part of the family. You should be very proud of all his nurses and the care they give. I think sometimes in the health care field, its sometimes easier to turn everything off and just do the job: get the procedures over with, deal with the families, finish the charts and go home. But that's not what we experienced and I am so grateful to these nurses, especially Kathy.

Thank you, Kathy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
