Quick action to revive a patient who had stopped breathing earned Kathy Young-Harkins, RN, a DAISY Award nomination from the patient's daughter.
In the nominating letter the daughter relates that Kathy "went out to get anti-nausea drugs and when she returned noticed my mother had stopped breathing. Her skill saved the day and gave us many more with our mother." The patient's narcotic medication apparently had interfered with her breathing.
"We have been blessed by this angel," the daughter continued. "We believe she should receive the DAISY Award for her dedication and consistency in care for the patients and families she supports daily with her dedication."
