September 2016 Honoree
katia muschong and naomi koenders peyerk, CRNAs
Katia Muschong was providing anesthesia to a patient who is a homeless veteran. He had not had a haircut or shave in a long time. Katia was told that she was not allowed to shave the patient. She made her manager aware of the situation. He called his personal barber and paid her to come and give the patient a haircut and shave the next day, a Saturday.
Katia told Naomi Koenders-Peyerk about the patient. Katia and Naomi made a Care Experience team memberaware of the patient's situation to provide extra support after discharge. They also went to "Henry's Closet" and found fresh clothes, shoes, and hygiene supplies for the patient. They went above and beyond for the care of this patient.
