Katie A Becker, ADN, RN

Our unit has experienced unprecedented turnover this year and has been managing the loss of 100+ years of nursing experience. That loss of experience has meant a rapid influx of nurses new to critical care. Central to the growth of our new team members has been Katie Becker. Every new nurse in the department benefits from her mentorship, guidance, and leadership. Although it’s impossible for every nurse to have Katie as their primary preceptor, every one of us finds ourselves under her wing. Having Katie as a mentor means there is no question too silly, no problem too great, and no situation too messy. Her knowledge, compassion, and determination flow through us and improve the care of every patient we meet. Although my experience is short, I have not met a nurse who has positively impacted more lives than Katie.
