Katie is an exceptional nurse! I have known her for almost 25 years at Craig. When I first started working at Craig, I worked with Katie quite a bit. It was then that I noticed how much her patients loved her and how much she really enjoyed getting to know them. I loved working with her. She was so helpful. We worked so well together as a team. Katie is such a pleasure to work with - so mild tempered and easy going. Her temperament can really put patients and staff at ease. Now that I am a unit secretary, my appreciation for Katie as a very knowledgeable and seasoned nurse has only increased. I could always count on her help when trying to read a physician's orders and their very different handwriting. She can read almost any kind of scribble and it is unbelievable. Back before the expansion of the hospital, most of the staff on 3W were transferring to 12 hour shifts. Just a few were still working 8 hour shifts and Katie was one of them. This is when I gave her the nickname "Katie Post-Op". People who worked 8 hour evening shifts had to take most of the Falci post-ops. She was assigned a post-op every time. This never upset her. She is so good natured and loved the SCI population. To sum it all up, I know for a fact that Katie has stayed in touch with former patients because they come back for re-eval asking for her. Katie is the Craig family.
