Katie Belongia, RN

During our internal disaster, the pepper spray incident, Katie demonstrated selflessness and was an incredible leader. She kept the unit calm despite the mass assault and confusion. She kept the hospital staff informed throughout the wild chaos. Katie ensured that the staff was okay despite the traumatic experience. She exhibited a level of kindness, compassion, integrity, and excellence while coordinating the very scary and confusing event. She did so with grace and a coolness that was much needed. I couldn’t imagine another nurse being “in charge” during this time.
