Katie Brandyberry was our nurse in the emergency department when my 89-year-old grandmother arrived via ambulance. Katie was a consistent caregiver for not on my Nan, but my entire family of roughly 16 of us. Katie’s caring, understanding nature was always top-notch. Even though my grandmother was unresponsive, she always spoke to her with the utmost love and respect. During the time my Nan was in the emergency room, Katie also provided wonderful care to my entire family, explaining situations, checking in on us, and offering her assistance wherever we needed it. Later that evening my Nan was moved to a different floor and became responsive for a brief time. The next morning, she started to decline again but Katie had heard that Nan had improved and came up from the emergency department to check in on us and see how my Nan was doing. This level of care is exceptional and goes above and beyond a nurse’s duty. Katie checked in with the family, my Nan, and sat and answered any questions we had. She made us all feel comfortable, and we knew that our Nan was receiving the greatest care. We are so appreciative of Katie’s efforts, love, and support during such a challenging and scary time.
