During the course of our stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Health Downtown, my family and I interacted with over 30 different nurses. The ICU has an absolutely wonderful and outstanding staff, but Katie Briggs is purely exceptional! She did a fantastic job and provided an extra level of service to our entire family. She was kind, caring, and compassionate every time we interacted with her. When she was asked anything, she always responded quickly with a kind and caring tone. She would go the extra mile to get answers either by research or contacting the head nurses or doctors. She even came by on her day off to provide Starbucks and support to us. When I thanked her, she simply smiled and stated, 'I'm just doing my job.' Kindness, care, compassion, comfort, and cheerfulness are not traits that can be taught or faked. Katie is an exceptional nurse.
