I worked a four-day stretch in which Katie was charge for most of the days. The unit was full and extremely busy. My patient was 1:1, busy, medically and had a 2-hour dressing change. As always, Katie helped me through the day. The last day my patient was very unstable, and we were going to do surgery at the bedside, with the OR staff. Katie was very organized, had my room totally prepared for almost every event that could take place. We were also to run the massive transfusion protocol during the surgery. While in our surgery case there were numerous events that took place that were very stressful, Katie remained calm, articulate, and problem solved. I believe this helped keep the physicians and OR staff calm and on task. Katie always is a great charge nurse. She is willing to take a patient without any complaints, always willing to help her staff, and she is always organized and calm. I truly do not know how I would have made it through my days of work that week without her. Katie is a great nurse for many reasons; she is caring, knowledgeable, and always a great RN to work with. Bronson should be proud to have her as a registered nurse in the TCU.
