I would like to thank my midwife Katie. I was pregnant with number 5 at the age of 40 and was worried from the first appointment! Katie always did her best to reassure my partner and me! Followed up on any calls or texts promptly! Fast forward to when I was due to give birth I was desperate for a home birth and had 2 previous home births but consultants said due to age they wouldn't allow me as it was a risk of stillbirth or bleeding out! During my pregnancy I had 3 friends that had 2 stillbirths at 31 and 37 weeks and another friend with twins born and died at 28 weeks gestation, this traumatized me! Katie still did a home birth assessment to ease my anxiety about going anywhere near KGH; also with the current situation of Covid-19, she listened to my requests for stretch and sweep which is what I had with 4th pregnancy!

Baby H arrived the following morning as I told Katie she would! My labor was extremely quick and intense at home which is where I had a huge bleed at home! Managed to get into the Delivery Suite where H was born within 20 mins of arriving which is where I had another huge bleed that I had never had with previous babies! The midwife that dealt with me that day was amazing! Katie came to see me 2 days after I had given birth to do the normal checks.

After about a week I started to suffer post-natal depression and she was just amazing she reassured me constantly she did a referral promptly and I'm now getting the help I so badly needed! So Katie Conroy I feel that you need some kind of thanks for just being amazing throughout with a totally over a hormonal pregnant woman and then a totally over-emotional wreck! H is now nearly six months old and very healthy!
