Katie is the perfect example of what DAISY is; demonstrating kindness and compassion towards her patients and families while being a strong patient advocate for those who can't speak for themselves. Working in the NICCU, it is an extremely stressful unit where parents are scared and overwhelmed when they enter this unknown world. Katie has this caring presence and an infectious smile that help calms down any situation. She is very thorough with her patient's family, taking her time to answer all questions and soothe ruffled emotions. Katie is a strong advocate for providing developmental care, making sure her tiny patients are swaddled. Katie is a great teacher for nervous first-time parents, helping them learn how to change diapers, holding their baby and how to care for their child.
