I’ve spent the last 1 ½ years being a patient at Delbert Day Cancer Center battling 2 types of cancer. In addition to DDCI, I have also utilized 30 other hospitals in the St. Louis area for related issues. During this timeframe, I have noticed many medical professionals who have done an excellent job in making me feel comfortable with various procedures and situations. All of these professionals have done a wonderful job but none has provided me with the attention and care in the manner that Kate has done.

Even though all of the caregivers are looking into the eyes of patients whose lives are probably being cut short and going through various sorts of pain and illnesses to due cancer, Kate has so many excellent qualities that are at times above and beyond other caregivers. Her caring attitude and professional skillset are just remarkable. Most notably is her calm and cool mindset. She by far understands what the patient is going through whether pain or sickness. The thought of these situations does not interfere with her activities. In her heart, she cares too much about the patient. For me, I always look forward to her care, her calmness, and her warm smile, which I can see through her mask! Such a fantastic nurse whom I don’t really want to see but I am so grateful in seeing her because of her calm, cool, and loving personality. She’s the best and we could take a lesson from her.
