Katie took care of my husband during the overnight before his organ donation. She was an amazing support to me during this time. During the 4 hours before, Katie positioned him and all of his lines and tubes so that I was able to lay with him during that time. She wrapped his arms around me so I could feel his warmth one last time. I will never forget this moment she created for me. Not all nurses have this compassion to go the extra mile to make a difference.

The care Katie provides to patients and families is that of a true DAISY Nurse. She cares for patients in a quiet manner, never bringing attention to the fine work she does. When I read stories and listen to Katie's peers talk about the above and beyond things she does for patients and families, the feedback I get is "That's Katie, never wanting recognition and acknowledgement for the extraordinary things she does." The care Katie delivers is outstanding, but is not out of the ordinary for Katie; it is her standard as well as how she has clinical experience, knowledge, and critical thinking skills needed to care for critically ill patients.I am proud to have her on our team!
