Katie displayed all the DAISY Award qualifications during her recent float to the 6th floor. Throughout the night she worked in cooperation with her assigned buddy to provide extraordinary, patient focused care to not only her patients but also her buddy's patients as well. She took the initiative and replaced a babe's NG without her buddy even asking for help. Katie also helped calm a new admit during multiple PIV starts showing her commitment to providing excellent care.
When her buddy was worried about having to give sedation to the new admission, Katie immediately pulled up the policy and helped her buddy determine the correct steps to take. Giving her all to the patients and her co-workers shows why Katie deserves to be a DAISY Award Honoree. She thought of others before herself by not taking a lunch break until 5:00 a.m. in the morning. When her buddy thanked Katie for all her help Katie replied, "It's not just you and me, we are a team, you would have done it for me"
