Katie is by far the best RN I've ever had! I was on a Med Surg floor, and I was blessed to have her as a floater nurse as she normally works in the ICU. She was very meticulous and careful with my central line, always swabbing it thoroughly and making sure my dressing was still intact, etc. She was always very thorough in her assessments, and I knew I was in good hands. But what really makes her stand out as a fantastic nurse and a strong role model to new grads, students, and coworkers was her willingness to advocate for me. I was admitted for J tube complications, and it needed to be replaced. I originally had the tube placed out of town, and that surgeon told me that it was stitched to my intestines and I'd have to have open surgery again to replace it. I had a hard time communicating this to the doctors here, who believed that this was an outdated practice and there was no way it was actually stitched to my intestines. Katie went above and beyond in talking to the doctors and messaging the providers to help get my point across. She really fought hard for me and restored my trust in the nurses taking care of me. When the surgeon pulled out my old tube, it was stitched down, and they were able to replace it. Katie genuinely cares about her patients and will fight for them to make sure they receive the best care possible and the highest chances for a good outcome. I am so thankful to have had a chance to have her as my nurse, and her kindness is something I will never forget.
