Several weeks ago I arrived in the OR, absolutely terrified of the port about to be implanted by Dr. S - the tears began to flow. I shall never forget your compassionate words, though brief, and the reassurance you provided that day. I know well what a port was all about, having lost my mother to breast cancer and my husband to a glioblastoma. To me, the port was the last straw and signified the finality of cancer. You gave me hope that day from behind your mask. Thank you so much for being there for me when I so desperately needed a pat on the hand and smiling eyes. I shall never forget that very special nurse that God sent my way just before the lights went out.
