Katie Nicholas is an RN on the Cardiac-Tele 3/PCU unit. In recognition by a Physical Therapist, it was stated as Katie being an integral part of helping a patient venture outside. The patient had been in the hospital for months, weak, had a trach, and starting to show possible signs of depression. Katie helped coordinate with Respiratory Therapy for adequate oxygen supply and Physical Therapy for mobilization and safety tips. With the utilization of a neuro chair, the patient went outside into the sunlight. This was a big feat that took lots of time, energy, and coordination. Katie's care made the patient's day brighter. The extraordinary care had an excellent impact on the patient's mood and provided a sense of hope.
