Katie was nominated by a patient who was to be discharged after completing dialysis. Since the patient had challenges with the dialysis procedure, Katie contacted the endocrinologist who decided to have the patient stay until the next morning. Katie’s patient wrote, “We need nurses that step up and say something if they see problems coming on.” The patient believes that Katie’s actions kept her from potentially having additional problems. She finished the nomination by writing, “Thank you Katie, for taking care of me and seeing that I am getting the care I need.”
