I am honored to recognize Katie for her unwavering dedication, leadership, and compassion. Katie consistently goes above and beyond for her staff, demonstrating a level of commitment that truly sets her apart.
As a night shift team, we often face unique challenges, yet she makes it a priority to support us in meaningful ways—frequently arriving as early as 5:00 a.m., and sometimes even earlier, to help bring calm to what can often feel like chaos. Her presence alone provides reassurance and stability during some of our most demanding moments.
She is a strong and relentless advocate for both our patients and our staff. Our unit has faced significant challenges, and Katie, alongside our manager, has continuously gone to bat for us—ensuring our voices are heard and working tirelessly to push for the resources and support we need. Her leadership reflects a deep understanding of the realities we face and a genuine desire to improve them.
What makes Katie truly exceptional is her ability to balance accountability with compassion. She holds us to high professional standards, encouraging growth and excellence, while also recognizing the human side of nursing. She cares deeply about our well-being—not just as nurses, but as individuals. She is there for us during difficult times, offering support, understanding, and encouragement both inside and outside of the workplace.
Katie’s leadership has made a lasting impact on our unit, fostering a culture of resilience, teamwork, and trust. She embodies what it means to be a nurse leader, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving.
