I am one of the homicide advocates at the NH Attorney General's Office. As part of my responsibilities as an advocate, I respond to homicides in the state of NH. I want to recognize the outstanding dedication and compassion of Nurse Katie Silveria. Part of my responsibilities that night was to deliver the death notification to the family and provide immediate crisis intervention. Nurse Silveria made me feel like I had a partner in these tasks that evening. She sat with the family as I delivered the death notification and continued to provide support as the family processed this earth-shattering event. Nurse Silveria never once made the family feel like there was anywhere else she needed to be. In discussion with Nurse Silveria, it was determined that the mother of the victim needed medical attention to alleviate some of the physical problems. Nurse Silveria was on it. She ensured that she had everything she needed to be as comfortable as possible in her time of grief.
