I've never known a nurse to be so well trained across the medical platform as she is.
Katie greeted my husband and me so sweetly as we arrived for D's colonoscopy procedure. She spoke clearly, exuberantly, and kindly to both of us. She effortlessly installed his IV. What set Katie apart from others was her genuine interest in us both, as a local neighbor, her love for her family, her love for Vinton and Shellsburg, and her support of all our small businesses downtown. Katie was passionate about work, not only as a mom, but also about working with oncology patients. I've never known a nurse to be so well trained across the medical platform as she is. I believe Katie to be an ideal candidate for this award, and I would not be at all surprised if she has received many awards to date. I would want her to be my nurse each and every time I have a stay at a hospital. She is perfectly suited to her career.

Procedures are scary, and she made us feel welcome and safe. She explained everything and was very compassionate. Her personality is very welcoming when you are stressed.

Katie made me feel comfortable physically and emotionally. She led wonderful conversations that opened up personal interests like hobbies and background. She makes a person feel like a lifelong friend, and that is pretty amazing. She did this with every single person who came in for their surgery this morning. It was fun to listen to and create a bond with these patients, putting them at ease. She deserves this award!

When checking in for my colonoscopy, Katie was the nurse preparing me for the procedure. She is very professional and thorough when it comes to the medical stuff. Her personality makes her the best at doing this job. Thank you, Katie!

What a wonderful nurse Katie is! My husband was there for a colonoscopy, and she made both of us feel very comfortable right away. She explained everything so we would understand exactly what was happening. She was so personable, and we talked about our lives and kids, and she reciprocated. It was nice to know she was interested and didn't just dismiss us as "old people"! Katie was smiling, had a great sense of humor, and was serious and professional when appropriate. She gave my husband excellent care! I so appreciate her manner and great IV abilities. We had a wonderful experience because of Katie. Thank you!
