Katie was the nurse for a Lifelink case and the family was struggling with the situation of their loved one. She helped calm them. When the patient was taken down to the OR, there was a small complication and they could not do the procedure for procurement. The patient was brought back to the unit. Katie and I made calls to Labor and Delivery to borrow a piece of equipment to be able to record the patient's heartbeat. The heartbeat was recorded and put into stuffed animals for her mom and loved ones. Katie also obtained the cardiac strip and a piece of hair for the patient's mother.
