This is a return visit to St. Luke's for my brother. He has had Katie as his nurse on both occasions. She goes above and beyond her normal duties as a nurse, not only to my brother, but to us, his family. She explained everything she is doing, what medication is being given and why, and always checking to make sure everyone is comfortable. She is compassionate and treats my brother with the love and care he deserves. While visiting him when Katie is working with him, she is in his room at least 20-25 times checking on him. Her personality, compassion for her patients, and obvious love of her job makes her the perfect candidate for this award.
