Katie was nominated by one of our Inpatient Nurse Practitioners. They wrote:

"Katie provides dedicated, compassionate, and healing care to her patients every day without fail. She is always willing to assist and is strong and courageous. Katie is always lending a sympathetic ear to her patients, as well as their family and friends. I have watched her hold hands, wipe tears, and provide comfort/end-of-life measures to many patients and their families with great respect and tenderness. She is selfless, dedicated, adaptable, a great communicator, and has amazing critical thinking skills. She is great with her peers, guiding them and supporting their growth. Her patients always complement her personality and care, as she always puts them first. She is so resilient.

When we learn about nursing in school, we learn of Florence Nightingale. Katie is our generation's "Lady with the Lamp." She encourages professionalism, focuses on ethical values, promotes patient advocacy, demonstrates loyalty, provides compassionate care, and is professionally accountable. I hope she knows that she is greatly appreciated, respected, and an absolute joy to work with. I appreciate her dedication to this profession and our patients. I appreciate her dedication to her job and organization. I appreciate that she smiles through all of the hardships and continues to heal another heart.
