Katie became my son's nurse during the scariest moments of my life to date. Following brain surgery, my son was doing well when suddenly he went into a major seizure. When transferred to Katie's unit, she began attending to his needs in the most professional, confident, and friendly way.

She recognized that I was struggling with fear for my son and said exactly the right words to let me know she was there to help. She explained things so clearly and truly was pivotal in helping me calm down. I watched her take care of my son, who was not even coherent, and then seamlessly help him each step of the way as he regained his ability to speak.

She immediately clicked with my son and was just an amazing person and nurse. Her level of empathy is something to be recognized and celebrated. I learned she is in graduate school for health care administration, and any hospital would be lucky to nab her as an employee! Katie is what all nurses should strive to be.
