Katie is always easy to work with and has a positive attitude. She is always a strong patient advocate as well.
A wonderful example of Katie's passion for patient-centered care was the night shift in February of this year. A patient had been requiring restraints when family was not available, and the patient did not qualify for a sitter. Katie had taken care of the patient in ICU, and when the patient was moved, Katie ran into the family who told her how exhausted they were. To give them a break, on her off hours from work, Katie stayed (8p-2a) to give the family a break and to prevent the patient from needing restraints. This is a heartwarming example of humancare and the nursing practice we all try to provide to our patients.
This is one example of why Katie deserves the DAISY award.
