Katie has been Mom’s nurse for several days. She has a great awareness of her patient’s needs and a good rapport with her patient’s doctors. On Sunday, Katie impacted not only my Mom but also our whole family. She took the time to answer our questions on a phone call and was willing to get a video call set up for us to be able to see Mom (this was after a few days of nursing staff who were not as willing). Katie spent time interacting with Mom and us during the video call. She let us know different items Mom would enjoy if we were going to be dropping things off. When Dad arrived to drop the items off at the hospital, Katie had gone above and beyond in advocating for Mom. She had gone to a doctor and was able to get permission for Dad to come up and see Mom after 19 days – wow! Mom had Katie as her nurse again today, Tuesday. Katie worked with Dad, answering his questions and advocating for Mom. She helped facilitate time with the care manager to determine a rehab facility for Mom. Katie also got Dad information to help explain Mom’s delirium as well as information on some medication to help with it. We were so incredibly blessed to have Katie as Mom’s nurse!
