Katie, who has been a nurse at East Georgia Regional for nearly 5 years, was nominated by both her colleagues and a grateful patient who experienced firsthand her unwavering kindness. One nomination shared this example of her selflessness, " We had a patient on the floor for two weeks who was known to be living in his car. When he was cleared for discharge, he had no gas in his car and could not afford his prescriptions. Katie took it upon herself to ensure he was taken care of. She rallied her fellow nurses and collected enough money to fill his gas tank and cover his prescriptions. This is only one of the many good deeds Katie has done.
