My aunt was admitted to CCHS and was upgraded to TSU, where Katie was her assigned nurse on the unit. I was very surprised that she was kept in the same assignment for 3 days of my aunt's care. I am an employee of CCHS, but being on the "other side" is always a different experience. As my aunt's nurse, she provided exceptional and compassionate care to not only her but to my family as well. Katie made sure to keep us updated with the latest information and made sure we were a part of every discussion and decision that was made. She was patient, kind, professional and very dedicated. Katie made a lasting impression on me with her sincerity and her work ethic. She offered continued words of encouragement and made sure she explained things in both medical terminology as well as breaking it down for us to understand. I am beyond grateful and appreciative of the care we received from her, and I cannot begin to thank her enough. Katie stayed past the end of her shift (and it was the start of her vacation) because she wanted to make sure she did everything she possibly could for my aunt and family. Even after my aunt was transferred to a higher level of care, Katie gave us her contact info and told us to feel free to reach out to her if need be. Although my aunt, unfortunately, passed away, with Katie's exceptional care she brought sunshine to our family during such a difficult time!
