She is an academic, a problem solver, and a doer. Katrina is 100% dedicated to the profession of Nursing.
There is no one more deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award than our own Katrina Brown. Katrina began her career at Providence as a teenage volunteer. She began her nursing career in 1994 in the Telemetry Department. She has since then worked in almost every position this hospital has to offer. Bedside Nurse, Team Leader, Nurse Manager, Director of Case Management, Director and Executive Director of Nursing, and finally Chief Nursing Officer. She participates in the American Heart Association Circle of Red program, AACN, the Gulf Coast Organization of Nursing Leaders, and Alabama Organization for Nursing Leadership. She is an academic, a problem solver, and a doer. Katrina is 100% dedicated to the profession of Nursing. She is constantly seeking a solution to any number of problems. It would be impossible to list all the initiatives she’s led over the years or imagine the hours she has spent on this campus problem-solving. She is often on-site during holidays, weekends, and nights, serving our patients and staff. She works under an incredible amount of pressure but carries herself so well. She’s visible and accessible. She has difficult conversations with families and staff when issues arise. She continuously presses forward and has led her team through many changes and challenges over the years.

Katrina, your dedication has not gone unnoticed. You have an unmatched work ethic. You inspire our team to go the extra mile when we aren’t so sure we can. Thank you for leading hundreds of Nurses through major projects, an acquisition, and a pandemic. You embody the spirit of Nursing and are truly one of a kind.
