Katrina’s kind gesture not only enabled the epidural injection to be a success but also provided immense comfort to me.
I am a first-time mom who went into labor 4 weeks early. Since my labor came unexpectedly early, I was clueless about the decisions I would have to make during labor and was worried about who my care team would be. I was blessed to have Katrina hold my hand (physically and metaphorically) during the 6-hour labor process.

Upon arrival at the L&D ward, I was 8 cm dilated, in extreme pain, and was unable to hold still for an epidural. Katrina was extremely encouraging and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. Since I was so dilated, I was unable to hold still for the epidural and the anesthesiologist had already bent 2 needles on my spine. Katrina took it upon herself to position me for the epidural and offered her chest for me to lay my head on while I endured yet another shuddering contraction. Katrina’s kind gesture not only enabled the epidural injection to be a success but also provided immense comfort to me.

Katrina’s steady guidance during the labor process provided both my husband and me the confidence necessary to deliver my premature baby successfully. She patiently answered all our questions and the necessary procedures to ensure a smooth delivery. Even when the attending OBs changed shifts at 6 p.m., Katrina remained by my side and provided a constant source of comfort during the last legs of labor. She helped us capture the once-in-a-lifetime moment of meeting our baby and transitioned us to the postpartum ward afterward. Katrina - it is a true blessing to have gone through my labor process with you. You’re a shining star of compassion and nursing excellence.
