Katrina Schache, RN

Katrina Schache had a critically ill patient with heart failure whom they were removing from life support. The patient had her family, including her young daughter, at the bedside. The patient was sedated and intubated, so the young daughter could not give a proper goodbye to her mother. Katrina let the daughter listen to some of her mother’s last heartbeats with her own personal stethoscope and showed her where to listen. Katrina took time out of her busy shift in order to make a huge impact on the daughter’s experience, and she allowed them to have a beautiful moment together as mother and daughter before the patient passed.
