Katrina Skinner has received numerous nominations for the DAISY Award in the past for excellence in nursing. The Veteran wrote the following, "Ms. Skinner was very professional and compassionate when it came to my care at the Birmingham VA. Ms. Skinner explained in detail all of my medications and procedures that were being administered. She made my stay comfortable and her kindness was so infectious and overwhelming. Ms. Skinner is a model employee and made it easy for me during a hard time in my life." When the Veteran found out that Katrina had been recognized for the DAISY Award, he continued to give her more praises and accolades. He stated, "Katrina was excellent, outstanding, superb, and provided five-star care."
