When we were expecting our first child in 2016, my husband and I took the birthing classes at Methodist and met Katy Sanders teaching this course. From those meetings she had already put our mind at ease about the scary unknown we were about to encounter. By luck, when we went into Methodist to deliver, Katy was there as our L&D nurse and guided us through the scary unknown with a little bit a humor, sass and a lot of compassion. No one can understand the role and support your nurse plays until you go thorough delivery. She made us feel like we were her only patient and never made us feel like we had a stupid question. She was such a positive force, that when we found out we were expecting our second, I reached out to her to let her know! Luck struck again this week when we arrived to find she was on duty!
Once again, Katy guided me through this scary and intense process just as perfectly as the first. It made it so special to have someone in our room that I felt truly cared for us and our outcome. Katy even offered to stay over her shift to see our birth through. She is a nurse that is encouraging with a needed force to keep you focused and even laughing. I so appreciate her dedication to her field and care she puts into each patient. She deserves to be recognized for her compassion and to know what an impact her presence can do to a struggling and scared mom during delivery. We all deserve a Katy to deliver our babies. Everyone in the room is all about baby (rightfully so), but Katy is in the room for mom and it's so appreciated! We feel so blessed she was able to deliver our two sons and be a part of our birth story!
