At 10 weeks post-partum, I was admitted to OB for mastitis. This was the first time I had ever been away from my baby, and she was my first, so I had a lot of fear around being in the hospital to receive care. Not only did Kayla take care of me for the mastitis, but she also took care of me emotionally by validating my feelings of being away from my baby.

While I received my care, she invited and encouraged my baby to come visit. What I thought was really special about Kayla is that even when she wasn’t my nurse for the day, she still checked in, came to my room when the doctor would see me, and she even waited to say goodbye to me after I got discharged. It is great to be cared for, but even greater to be cared about.
