Kayla had a patient with hair down to her bottom that had been bed bound for several months which caused one huge matt. I myself have very long hair (down my back) this would be an emotional task. In the end, this task helped the patient feel a lot better about herself. Kayla has her own personal care kit that she keeps in her locker with extra supplies we don’t stock at the hospital. She keeps these for patients who need an extra helping hand. She doesn’t broadcast this, it’s why she deserves this. She only brings it out when needed and puts it away discreetly. She doesn’t bring it out for personal gain she brings it out for the patient. I can give several more examples of how she takes care of her patients or how she advocates for the best outcomes for them but this is the one that sticks out to me. I was there to help but it was not my idea. We cut her hair and I felt her pain but Kayla was the driving factor and deserves the recognition. It was overall a sad moment but Kayla is such a good nurse I knew we were doing the right thing. Kayla is someone I really look up to, she is an amazing nurse who deserves some recognition
