Katie Ott and Kayla Bemis were absolutely amazing during the last days of our Father, Bapa, Great Bapa and Great Great Bapa's life here on earth until he went to join his beloved wife. We cannot say enough about the compassion and kindness shown by these two incredible nurses during his four day stay at Mayo Clinic Health System - La Crosse. We write this nomination with sincere gratitude and appreciation.
Our family found out very quickly how important nurses are when our dear Dad fell into the hands of two very special nurses. This is still very fresh in our minds since we just lost this adored man, but we feel lucky to have our memories of two nurses caring for our dad, like he was their very own. Losing a parent is devastating, and we can truly say that the care from these nurses made our last days with our dad the best possible. We nominate Katie Ott and Kayla Bemis for being the best of the best.
Katie and Kayla treated our entire family as their patients, and we could see the love and compassion in their kind eyes, gentle hands and loving hugs. They did all they could to make Bapa's last days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. What is even more touching is that Bapa wasn't the only one being cared for in that hospital room. Little did we know, Katie and Kayla were treating us all for broken hearts, and there were moments when they had a room filled with patients. That kind of care is priceless.
Thank you, Katie and Kayla, for caring for this dear man, like he was the only one who mattered. Thank you for helping us all understand and begin to cope with what was to come. Most of all, thank you for taking our dad's pain away and helping him reach his forever home peacefully and comfortably. He looked like an angel with the sun shining down on his face! It was a moment that we'll keep in our hearts forever.
