Kayla Bossart, RN
As an ED nurse caring for a postpartum patient with a complex social situation, I sought support for her need to pump milk for her NICU baby at another hospital. Kayla personally coordinated the transport of the milk after her shift, which helped relieve the patient's stress. Her compassion made a challenging situation much better.

Kaya immediately stepped in to support the patient. She worked with the patient, her bedside nurse, and the NICUs at both hospitals. She ensured the patient had a pump kit and then transported the milk to the hospital the baby was staying at 1:00 am. This act of kindness brought the patient a sense of purpose and peace during a very vulnerable time. Kayla also arranged for the patient to be added to the hospital's mother's milk system and coordinated with the NICU to store her milk until she had someone who could transport it regularly.
