The NICU at CHOP is full of angels (nurses) taking care of many, many babies. However, Nurse Kayla was definitely a favorite of our baby boy. Her skill, kindness, love and playfulness shone through as we observed her care for our son.
Kayla was also very sympathetic towards me, understanding my tears and giving me a blanket that my baby slept on so that I could smell him when we were physically apart.
On our baby's last day in this world, I found myself unable to turn to any family member for strength and support. Instead I found that Kayla's presence, encouraging words of support and comforting hugs helped me immensely, to make my baby's last few hours on earth as special as possible.
We have a special place in our hearts for Kayla. We are so grateful for her love, compassion and kindness and her immaculate care of our son. Thank you for everything that you have done and all the work you continue to do to help babies that need special care. May you continue to flourish and may you always, always be blessed.
