June 2026 Honoree
Kayla Claar, RN
My father spent three nights under observation in the Conemaugh Nason ER this past weekend. When we arrived just after 7 am on Saturday morning, Nurse Kayla was right there to help with everything he needed. She was there Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and we couldn't have asked for a better nurse to be watching over him.
Kayla was kind and friendly. My dad has dementia and becomes easily agitated. It can be a lot to be around, but Kayla was never rattled. Even in situations where he might have easily been embarrassed (going to the bathroom, getting changed), she was great with him and treated him with respect and dignity.
In addition to the excellent care she gave my dad, she was so nice to our family, keeping us informed of everything that was happening and what we could expect. When we had questions, she went the extra mile to help us find the answers.
Having a loved one in the hospital is also stressful, but Kayla was a bright spot throughout it. I feel very fortunate that she was there for us through those three days. Her kindness and positive attitude even under difficult circumstances are so greatly appreciated. We hope she knows what a blessing she was to us!

Thank you, Kayla, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
