I came to the hospital to get a PICC line. I have been admitted to the hospital numerous times over my 13-year journey with cancer, but I was nervous; a PICC line was new to me.
Kayla Crellin-Quick immediately set my mind at ease. She introduced a new nurse she was training and proceeded with watching him start an IV line. I was beyond impressed with how she spoke to him with patience and kindness in teaching him every step. Her clinical skills were evident in her training. She went over all the notes the doctor left on the computer, explaining to me what was going to happen over the next few days.
I made an instant connection with her and her warm smile made me feel safe and taken care of. She always made sure I had everything I needed and even asked my aunt and husband if they needed anything.
Kayla's soft-spoken, kind delivery is exactly what every patient needs. In all my years of hospital procedures and stays, I have never witnessed a nurse with such a superhuman compassion. During that 7 day stay, all my nurses were absolutely wonderful, but Kayla stands out. She made me feel very loved and cared for, she went above and beyond with love and compassion.
